Have a complaint? Register it at the one-stop window, 1905.Punjab.gov.in
EVER felt like voicing a concern or registering a complaint, but stopped short because of envisioning yourself, stuck and sweating in a serpentine queue in some sarkaridaftar or getting exhausted and frustrated running from pillar to post? Well, in a much-needed move and need of the hour, the Badal Government has opened its ‘window’ to the people of Punjab. In order to expedite services, redress grievances and complaints and initiate a direct dialogue with the state, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal has launched 1905.Punjab.gov.in. and a mobile app for the same. Not only this, one can write directly to the Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab too via firstname.lastname@example.org.
This comes close on the heels of the toll -free helpline, 1905, that has proved to be a huge success. Now, under the new web portal, not only will the grievances be processed automatically within 30 days, senior citizens will have a special space to lodge their concerns.
One can track the complaint status and give feedback simultaneously too. The best part of this portal is that one doesn’t really require cumbersome login credentials and in case you are confused and unable to slot your complaint under any particular department, you can register it under ‘Miscellaneous’ section. Easy! Another plus is the language interface. Not everyone is proficient in English or has Internet. So, press F9, and you will be able to file the complaint in Punjabi. In case Internet is missing or is not working, you call on the toll-free number 1905 and register a complaint. You see, now every department has a nodal officer as its Grievances Officer. But be careful, for matters that are subjudice or pending in court, matters related to transfers and postings and RTI matters do not find place on this website. The “mobile app 1905” contains all features of the 1905 web portal.
But more than anything else, this is a step towards bridging the gap between the government and the governed, especially now that the Government of Punjab has also launched the service, Welcome SMS to the out-circle mobile subscribers entering Punjab.
“The Government of Punjab welcomes you to Punjab and wishes a pleasant stay. In case of any help, Please dial Deputy CM’s toll free number 1905.”
The entire 1905 experience is a true ‘mannkibaat’, where people are being empowered to take charge and speak up. Instant SMS updates further ensure that the complaint has been received and will be addressed. It’s a ‘smart’ move too, with manual systems giving way to effective automatic ones, ensuring a ‘progressive Punjab’ that is making an effort to work towards governance reforms.
