Punjab government under its campaign for Progressive Punjab came up with the Agri Summit in the state. The summit has been a major contributor in improving the standard of agriculture in the state. The government has always kept in mind the needs and requirements of the people involved in the agricultural sector of Punjab. This summit came as a boost for all such people.
Punjab has achieved an outstanding growth in agriculture, particularly rice and wheat and has been a major contributor to the national food security. This summit helped in improving productivity, profitability and sustainability of farming and helped to accelerate the growth in agriculture. The Agriculture Summit was organized to catalyse the process of improving the sustainability and economic viability of farming.
This Agro-Technology and Business event transformed agriculture from sustainable to profitable. Structure. More than 300 reputed National and International Companies/ Exhibitors participated in the event under exclusive industry and sector-specific pavilions and more than 1 lakh visitors comprising farmers, entrepreneurs, researchers, faculty, students and other stakeholders from across the country visited the event and attended the Technical Sessions and Farmers Summit.
The Progressive Punjab agriculture Summit focussed on the latest innovations and new technology. The 4-day Summit started with a KissanSammelan wherein all the stakeholders in the process of agricultural development participated and laid down the agenda for discussion. This was followed by a one-day seminar on Punjab Agriculture: Challenges and Way forward.
Then there were two days of specific technical sessions wherein the stakeholders discussed different aspects of agricultural development process on identified key areas.
The main aim of this summit was to understand the requirements of the farmers and do whatever can be done for their betterment. A massive number of farmers from Punjab and other states of India participated in this summit. This summit organized by the Punjab government played a very important role in shaping the agricultural sector and bringing reforms for the farmers.
The government encouraged the farmers to participate more in numbers so that maximum people can get benefit out of this summit. This summit came as a major step from the state government for the welfare of the farmers.
Leading industrial houses in agri business like Aditya Birla Group, Tata Chemicals, Mahindra & Mahindra Agri Business, Godrej Agrovet, Dabur India Ltd, ITC, Nestle, Coca Cola, PepsiCo India, and DSCL (Shriram Fertilizers & Chemicals) actively participated in the summit.
