This initiative is also a part of the Chief Minister’s scheme on community development of villages.
The university has also adopted eight more villages under this scheme, and they fall under the Bathinda district. A total of 10 villages will be developed under this scheme in its first phase and the Chief Minister had recently announced Rs. 10 crore for this process to be carried out.
The residents of the Mann village were recently informed of this new development and asked for their cooperation for the same during the recent visit of a team of officers from the district administration and the university officials. As per what Sakshi Sahni, Assistant Commissioner (General), under-training IAS Officer, Muktsar, a survey will be conducted in the village, so that the required basic amenities can be provided to the people as per their requirement. Also, she made them understand the basic motive behind this process and how it will help the villagers to grow further. She appealed them to join hands with the administration and cooperate with them in as much ways as possible to make this project a success.
The nodal officer of the project is Dr Sunil Mittal, assistant professor, Department of Environment Science and Technology, Central University of Punjab, made the villagers aware of the schemes by the government for them and asked them to make use of it at the most. Also, he told them about the uses of installing solar lights and how it will help them in further developing the village at lower cost. He motivated the villagers to use animal excreta for biogas plants, as it is a cheaper alternative and also better for the environment.
Badal is the native village of the Badal family and has a number of educational institutions and government building and is on a spree to development. The Mann village is also a part of the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojna. Developing two model projects will make it easier to develop the rest of the villages, as the management would be aware of the rights and the wrongs in the whole model.
